And Cas, I'll accept your offer for my old truck at $600. That's $600/month for 6 months.  :money

Sounds like a plan. Let me know when the 4WD is fixed and the new tires are mounted.

What, and take away the genuine pleasure you have working under a truck for weeks on end, in frigid weather conditions? I can't be that mean to you. It's one of your simple pleasures to be tortured like that, and then complain about it for weeks on end in here. I'm too good natured to ever take that away from you.   :angel

Of course not. We have the Guapo easy pay plan. You pay the 1st 3 months up front. Then make no payments for the next 2 months. Then the 4th month make 2 payments. Skip a month, then make the final payment in the 6th month. See, all at 0% financing too!  :rtThumb

Went back to dealer tonight and signed all the papers. Hopefully will have it Monday. Upcoming snow/rain on Saturday delayed it until then. Feeling more relieved now that the final numbers are on paper. Scary thing is that the sticker price of this truck, is more than I owe on my mortgage.  :horror But I'm sure I'll get over it.
My wife is now talking about buying a new car. Damn, can't she let me bask in my mid-life excess without trying to up end me?  :(

Here is what the truck will look like:

It's a 5.0L V8, 385 HP, 387 lb-ft torque. Has to be similar to what's in you beast of burden. I was also looking at ones with their new 3.5L V6 ecoboost, twin turbo engines. 375 HP, 470 lb-ft torque. Test drove one of them, and they really haul ass in such a big truck. But besides an additional $1,000. I was worried that a twin turbo engine, has potentially more problems down the line. After all, I kept my last truck almost 12 years. There's no longetivity numbers yet on these new engines. But the 5.0L V8, is a tried and true tested engine. And the V6 really need premium gas to run at their peak. But the V8 is a flex fuel engine, so in a pinch I can fill it with the 85% ethanol. Though I believe after Trump gets in, corn based ethanol gasoline will start to diminish. And maybe we'll get back to some real kick ass gas again.
It also came with an extended 36 gal gas tank. That way when I'm in NJ, I can fill up on cheap gas. Though it may cost me $100 to do so.  :cascrying

You made the right call. Any fuel savings on the high tech motor will likely go back out in repair costs. Your low tech v8 will easily do 250k if you choose to keep it that long.

Nothing like a naturally aspirated v8.

My current truck has the 4.7L V8 with 146,000 miles. And the engine always, and still does, run great. Only ever had problems with externals like water pumps, fuel injector once, some sensors, etc. I really wanted to keep it and let my son have it. I would've spent the money to fix the 4wd, knowing the engine and transmission itself is still solid. But he doesn't want a truck, so no point fighting about it.

Nice looking truck!!

The 5L V8 will be perfect for the plow and spreader (gotta offset the cost somehow!)

It did come with a plow prep kit. But plowing is a sure way to destroy your truck in short order.
