Had a most nerve wracking ride home today from picking up my son at work. Just as I got to his job, I had to brake somewhat hard. Something broke, and the brake pedal went to the floor. Barely had any brakes left. When I got out and looked, I saw brake fluid all on the inside of the rear wheel. So I knew I blew out the rear brake cylinder. I was 13 miles from home, with nothing much more than the parking brake, and some very limited braking. Needless to say, it was an adventure coming home. Drove no more than 25-30 mph, with the emergency flashers on the whole time. And took all small roads avoiding the highway. And tried to brake as much as possible with the parking brake. By the time I got home, most of the fluid was gone in the reservoir, and I had almost no brakes at all.   :phew
Refilled the reservoir at home. And will take it to the garage early tomorrow, as they're open Sunday, and leave it there to fix.

Interesting thing, while I was crawling home, a police car was right behind me on my bumper. Since I had the flashers on, and he stood behind me for a few blocks, I figured he was going to pull me over. No deal. He eventually made a right turn into one of those auxiliary police booth stations. Can't even get pulled over when you want to.  :wink

Lucky they now have the system broken into 2 parts a right and left. So that you had some brakes. Smart move going home that way.

Probably would have wrote you some equipment violation tickets.

Actually joking, I've always been treated more than fairly on traffic stops.

Thank god you were not at high speeds

There is only so much the parking break could do.

Got it all fixed today. New brakes, cylinders, and re-cut drums. Nice to be able stop normally again.

We live in the tropics now?

I cannot recall seeing this much rain this time of the year... Not just rain, but a downpour of biblical proportion.  Maybe I should sharpen up my woodworking skills and start on the guapo ark.  I will take a pair of each kind: Open, Limited, Limited 10, single stack, production and revolver.

. ... Get in there!

So I am cleaning my little 5x7 gun room.  And trying to put things in some sort of order.  I found out that if I need to reload in a hurry I would have to neck-size a 40 case to fit a 45acp bullet and use a magnum rifle primer, for  a round to defend myself.  Lol.,  I got little of this and too much of that.

So I am creating a spreadsheet with all my inventory and keeping track of what is low and not.  I will write a macro that will alert me when I am low of one thing vs the other.  I will post the spreadsheet here if others are interested in using it.

I Also do development work, one of my skills, and what I can do with pen and paper alone, I always find a way to write some code for it... Lol... Over Engineering is my thing.
