Carry optics
« on: December 01, 2019, 01:06PM »
So looks like you can set up your gun as a limited gun for the exception:

1) no magwell
2) no comps
3) no major pF, although you can still shoot it but it will be scored as minor
4) no thumbrest , unless you use one that replaces the slide lock

You can go nuts with everything else, even work on or swap with a custom trigger.  So carry optics is really more than or at least just as competitive as limited.  Low recoil, same mag capacity and a periscope for fast target acquisitions.  Yes limited has the major PF going for it,  but speed, specially in big stages may be a better advantage.

I think this makes CO very interesting specially in states where mags are not limited

"Open lite".

I don't like what they've done to the divisions.

Made revolver into Almost L-10.
Made production into Almost Limited.
Made carry optics into Almost open.

Did my first PCC match and yeah enjoyed it. Plan on getting used to my P320 with a red dot. Getting harder to see the iron sights and my favorite Single Stack just not a competitive division for me down here.

with Limited and open guns costing 5k-7k+ ... this maybe the cheapest option to get something of quality and still be less than 3k for pistol shooting.

The difference between shooting major vs minor is becoming less of a differentiating factor IMO.  I am seeing Bigger stages, more steel targets and targets at longer distances.  Bigger stages speed dominates, steel targets care little for major and longer distances everyone has to aim.  I see a future where Major PF is gone.  If the shooter cannot knock down steel with his loads that will be on him.  I believe it will be like 3 gun where you don’t have to meet any PF.

I also see  Open, Revolver, single stack and production divisions gone.  PCC, Lite Open and Limited will be it.  Mind you when USPSA started there was only Open and Limited.  The other divisions were added to attract new shooters.  Seems to be that new shooters want to go fast on day one.

Started with no divisions.  Optics didn't exist, autos and revolvers shot together.

I have been wanting to buy a CO pistol but canít make my mind up.

I do agree that all the changes suck. I would not be surprised if manufactures are stuffing some envelopes for the USPSA BODs.

I am going to stick with production this year and will bring out the PCC occasionally (just to shoot a rifle once in a while).  CO, now that there are no restrictions on mag capacity in USPSA, is no longer something that attracts me being behind the iron curtain.  I want to shoot a division as it is shot every where else.  Specially since I am not planning to attend big matches in 2020 outside of our local clubs.  The day they overturn the safe act I am taking a home equity loan and join the kool kidz

There are plenty of factory pistols that are optic ready. Sig Legion and Walther are the big dogs or you could get a Glock 34 or Canik TP9sfx. You could get a CZ or Tanfo and get the slides milled. Come join the fun my friend.

Planning to shoot open with my carry optics M&P core in the steel matches.  There is no PF so I can shoot regular 9mm and like all steel matches these are shot with 10 round in the mags.  Doing that this weekend :somb4
